Gabby & Fling | Equine photoshoot | North Sydney

Late last year I photographed Gabby and her beautiful warmblood gelding, Fling, at their agistment in North Sydney.

Healing a broken heart

Fling came into Gabby’s life after she was healing a broken heart from the loss of her beloved boy Cooper. She’d been going to try another horse, but fell in love with him just from the photos she saw. She just knew he was the one.

It’s not hard to see why – he’s truly one of the most striking horses you could find!

Photographing an equine love story

Gabby had a fall early into their partnership and broke her pelvis, but felt it only helped their relationship grow. She told me that their connection grew so strong in such a short time because she spent so much time just being with him on the ground and hanging out in the paddock, while she was unable to ride.

A ladies man…

Fling was described as a cuddly, big teddy bear, and it couldn’t have been more true! He was so friendly, it’s hard not to walk away being his biggest fan.

Gabby told me how her favourite things to capture would be how she just wraps her arms around him, and his classic look when he craves attention. I think we did just that!

One of Gabby’s favourite things about Fling are his white eyelashes over his right eye – they’re so cute, and also can look so funny, like he’s giving you the side eye! Such a unique look – I loved it.

Adaptability is key

The session was such a beautiful day. Fling was the perfect gentleman for his black background session. Being a young horse, he had some fidgety moments once we moved outdoors for his horse & rider session, but as always, we were patient and made it work without stressing this handsome boy!

Here’s what Gabby had to say about it:

“Lexi was so amazing with Fling. I’m very lucky he was pretty good the whole photoshoot, but by the end when he was a little sick and tired of all the fuss, we really worked around him! No judgement or trying to force anything. Such a positive experience for us both!”

The artwork

Gabby selected a beautiful album and gallery collection for her wall. The white canvas against the black background looked STUNNING – I think I want Fling’s handsome face on my wall now, too!
