Ridden photoshoot at historic Stannix House

Emma & Sky’s dressage photoshoot at the beautiful Stannix Park House in Ebenezer, constructed in 1839.

Dressage photoshoot at Stannix Park House

It’s all in the set up

I love ridden photoshoots because they allow us to get the very best out of your horse. We can set them up in ways which allow you to get the absolute best performance – and therefore the best photographs – from them.

For Emma & Sky, we did exactly that!

Just over eighteen months ago, Emma bought Sky as a green-broken young mare. They’re getting strong with their Preliminary work (they went out on the weekend after this and scored over 70% in both tests!), and playing with elements from the Novice and Elementary tests. By setting the movements up in particular ways and get the very best out of Sky when she was at the perfect angle for the best shot, and not trying to hold the movements which she was still mastering for too long, I think they both looks like they’re more than just playing with more challenging work! Wouldn’t you agree?

A farewell to the Hawkesbury

On a more serious note, I think this classic Hawkesbury venue was the perfect farewell to the area, as Emma is soon to be moving from the Hawkesbury to the Southern Tablelands.

It felt nice to have Emma be part of the magic rather than helping create the magic, for the first time in a little while! Many of my clients will recognise Emma from their own photo-session, waving pom poms, or scuttling towards your horse holding a reflector over her head. All I can say is that she’ll be sorely missed 🙂
